Week 9 Term 1 2013 - What a harvest!

Hi everyone, what a harvest we have picked this week!

Thanks to our watering and the great rain on the weekend our silverbeet and lettuces have grown big and leafy.

This week we had fun picking the leaves and taking them home to share with our whanau.

Have a lovely Easter break!

Week 8 Term 1 2013! Worms! Worms! and more Worms!

Hi everyone, we have been collecting our food waste to give to our worm farm which will turn it into worm tea that we use to fertilize our gardens.

We had to stomp on the apples to break them up a bit for our worms.

Check it out!

Week 7 Term 1 2013!

What a great week it has been for our Enviro Kids!

They have all helped to plant out some new lettuce seedlings as well as renewing our Butterfly Garden with new swan plants.

We have planted our veges in small pots so that we only use a small amount of water and so that the water goes to our plants instead of soaking down into the whole garden.

We discussed the water shortage and how much water is wasted, down our drains, from the drinking fountains. From our discussions we decided to put trays under the fountains to collect the water. This has been very successful and the gardens are getting the benefit.
