Enviro Kids Week 5 Term 3 2013

Kia ora whanau!

This week the fabulous Enviro Kids have been creating some amazing artwork from recyclable materials.

We want to give a big THANK YOU to all those families who diligently collected bottle tops for us.

We like to make use of things that would normally be thrown away and change what happens to them.

Check out our garden art!

Enviro Kids Week 3 Term 2 2013

Thank you Mt Eden Village People-Fruit trees for Auckland!
This week has seen the planting of our first orchard. We are very lucky to have had these trees provided for free by Mt Eden Village People group.
We are even luckier that Juanita and Paul Tetley organised their collection and brought them to school for us! Thank you Juanita and Paul!
On Wednesday Bob planted 2 feijoa trees, 2 plum trees and 3 citrus trees. We now have a fabulous new orchard outside Room 2!
Thank you Bob!

This week the Enviro Kids planted some more strawberries. We are hoping to get lots to share. The plants that we put in a few weeks ago are flowering nicely. We now hope the bees come to call.

Enviro Kids Term 3 Week 1 2013

Kia ora whanau!

Welcome back to school and welcome to Term 3 2013!

This week the fabulous Enviro Kids have planted some strawberry plants. We are looking forward to having delicious, juicy, ripe red strawberries at the end of Term 4.

We made sure the holes were the right size and we watered them.

The cage will protect our strawberries from the birds.

We also watered our other gardens to make sure they will grow.

Happy gardening everyone!

Enviro Kids Week 10 Term 2 2013

Kia ora whanau!

Week 10 and the end of another term. We are very pleased to see the new location of our gardens and the growth of our new planting.

We will finish filling the gardens in week 1 of Term 3, after the holiday break.

Today we have fed our hard working worms.

They make lots of worm tea for us to use on the gardens for fertilizer.

Look how our plants are growing!

Happy gardening everyone and happy holidays!

Enviro Kids Week 9 Term 2 2013

Kia ora everyone!

What a great week it has been for planting.

Neither rain nor cold nor dark clouds could deter the fabulous Enviro Kids from planting silverbeet seedlings in our gardens.

Great job Enviro Kids!

Then they were taking turns at gluing on the bottle tops for our garden art.

Way to go Enviro Kids!

Enviro Kids Week 8 Term 2 2013

Kia ora everyone!

We hope you have noticed the big changes happening with our edible gardens this week.

Yes, there is now a big space where our gardens used to be!

This is because they have been moved to make way for the brand new, amazing and fabulous Junior Playground! Watch this space in the holidays and week one of Term 3.

The gardens have now been located at various places around our wonderful school.

Outside the new Junior toilet block.

Between Spartan Court and Room 8.

Outside Room 12 and room 21.

Two of the gardens will be planted and cared for by Rooms 10 and 11, our Sommerville classes.
We will be planting out the rest over the next two weeks.
Happy gardening everyone!
