Enviro Kids Week 3 Term 4 2013

Kia ora Everyone! Well, it may be a short week but we have packed in plenty of watering, weeding and harvesting!

 

 

Lucky Room 16 gets to take these home this week!

 

We hope you all had a good break over Labour Weekend and got the chance to enjoy the lovely weather.

Last week we used our collection of strawberries to make smoothies! Yes, they tasted as good as they looked!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Enviro Kids Week 2 Term 4 2013

Welcome to Week Two of Term 4!

We are very grateful to all the rain and sunshine we have had over the past few weeks. Our silverbeet and spinach has really taken off!

This week we harvested the gardens in front of Room 7 and the produce has gone to Room 15 to take home and share with their families.

 

 

 

And here are the lucky people in Room 15 who got to take that silverbeet home.

 

 

 

 

Enviro Kids Week 1 Term 4 2013

Kia ora whanau! Welcome back to school for Term 4, the last for 2013.

Hands up if you like big red juicy strawberries! Yes, we do too.

This week our fabulous Enviro Kids got to sample the fruits of their labours by picking and eating the ripe red ones in our gardens.

 

 

 

Mmmmm, mmmmmm! They were delicious!

Enviro Kids Week 9 Term 3 2013

Kia Ora Whanau!

Welcome to week 9 and our final week of the term.

This week the Enviro Kids have planted some seed potatoes that will be ready to harvest before the Christmas holidays.

 

We made sure that they had all sprouted.

 

 

We dug two trenches to put the potatoes in.

 

 

Then we carefully placed the seed potatoes into the trench and covered them lightly with soil.

 

 

Now we will watch for green shoots popping up and cover them with more soil.

What a great week for harvesting!

After taking such good care of our silverbeet plants we have been able to share a big harvest.

This week all the Enviro Kids got to take some home to share with their whanau.
