Enviro Kids week 7 Term 2 2013

Kia ora everyone!

This week we have been watering our gardens and watching the new growth.

Can you see some new growth on our plants?

It was the turn of lucky Room 5 to take home the silverbeet harvest this week. Even though we have a small garden of silverbeet we continue to get plenty to share!

You may have noticed that our main edible gardens have not been fully planted out. This was due to the drought in term 1 and is now due to the gardens being moved to make way for our new Junior playground. As soon as they have been moved we will be doing a full plant!

New gardens, week 6 Term 2 2013

Hi everyone!

We are very excited to show you our new edible gardens!

We have taken over the gardens beside our school front door. What better place to be growing and nurturing edible plants for our whanau!

Here is what they looked like before we planted. We had put in some compost and dug it over, then watered it.

We dug the holes and put the plants in.

We planted silverbeet, parsley and thyme.

Then we watered them.

Great job Enviro Kids!

Week 5 Term 2 2013

Hi everyone, we hope you are enjoying the sunshine when it comes and taking the opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy your gardens!

This week it was the turn of the fabulous Room 4 to take home the silverbeet and share it.

We are very grateful for our continuing harvest!

And of course we like to keep our worms happy with fresh leafy vegetables!

Happy gardening everyone!
